Ingredients :
2 lb. strawberries (rinse and dry, stems left on)
10 oz chocolate chips (dark, semi-sweet, milk chocolate or white chocolate pieces)
instructions :
Prepare fresh strawberries, make sure they are well washed and then completely dried. Water will grip the melted chocolate and make it difficult to get a smooth chocolate frosting.
Sprinkle chocolate shavings (depending on desired flavor) each into their own microwave-sized bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between heating cycles. Stir vigorously after 1 ½ to 2 minutes of heating to fully melt remaining chocolate chips.
Dip the strawberries in the chocolate by pulling on the stalk, then twist the berries so they are coated with chocolate. Lift and twist and let as much of the excess chocolate drain from the berries as possible.
Place each chocolate-covered strawberry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or wax paper. * Alternatively, you can dip or sprinkle each berry with red or pink Valentine’s Day decorations, crushed nuts or coconut shavings after coating with chocolate.
To drizzle the berries with white or contrasting chocolate, dip a fork into the melted chocolate and drizzle over the chocolate-covered strawberries.
Chill the chocolate-covered strawberries for 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
