Ingredients :
7 tablespoon butter salted or unsalted, softened
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
¼ teaspoon red food coloring gel
1 cup AP flour
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup red sanding sugar
18 Hershey chocolate kisses
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a mixer, mix the butter, brown sugar and icing sugar until smooth. Add the egg yolks, vanilla and red food colouring and mix until smooth.
Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt and mix until the flour mixture is dissolved. Form 18 equal sized balls of biscuit dough with a spoon, roll them between your hands and roll them in the red sugar.
Place the balls on the prepared tray and bake for 10 minutes. Once the biscuits are out of the oven, place a chocolate kiss in the centre of each biscuit and press lightly. Allow the biscuits to cool on the tray for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
