Air Fryer recipes & salads

Air-grilled pickle chips .

Spicy pickles in a golden, crispy breading are the perfect appetizer for house parties. They can be served with dipping sauce or used as a component of tasty burgers and sandwiches. Air frying helps you get a super crispy crust using just one spoonful of vegetable oil. A great alternative to deep frying! Before frying, the pickles, cut into circles, are dipped in spicy flour, then in spicy sour milk, and finally in a mixture of panko breadcrumbs with Cajun and Italian seasoning. To serve, make a sauce by mixing ketchup, mayonnaise, horseradish and Cajun seasoning.

Ingredients :
Cucumbers
1 jar (450 g) of pickles sliced in circles
0.5 tbsp. extra virgin flour
1/4 tsp. ground cayenne pepper
1.5 tsp. Cajun seasoning
1 tbsp. sour milk or kefir.
A little hot sauce
1.5 tbsp. Panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tbsp. olive oil
Special equipment: 3.5 lt. aero grill.

Dip sauce
0.5 tbsp mayonnaise
4 tbsp. ketchup
1 tsp. prepared horseradish
0.5 tsp. Cajun seasoning

Preparation :

Preheat a 3.5-liter air grill to 200°C. Place a grid inside the bowl.

Pat the pickles dry and place them on a tray lined with paper towel. Blot dry with paper towels, pressing gently to remove as much moisture as possible. Remove any slices with large holes or very thin slices – you don’t need them.

Prepare the breading area by placing 3 medium bowls side by side. In one bowl, mix the flour, cayenne pepper, and 0.5 tsp of Cajun seasoning. In the second bowl, mix the sour milk with the hot sauce. In the last bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, the remaining 1 tsp. cajun seasoning and 0.5 tsp. salt. Drizzle the breadcrumbs with oil and stir with your hands to coat the panko completely.

Working in small batches, fry the pickles in the air fryer. First, coat a handful of cucumbers in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then dip them in the fermented milk mixture to cover completely, and shake off the excess. Finally, coat the cucumbers in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to make sure they stick. Place the breaded cucumbers on the prepared baking tray and repeat the same until all the cucumbers are breaded.

Arrange one-third of the cucumbers in the basket of the airfryer in a single layer. Roast for 8 minutes.

The cucumbers will turn out very crispy and golden on both sides. Transfer to a serving plate and repeat the same with the remaining two batches.

Dip sauce: meanwhile, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish and Cajun seasoning in a small bowl.
Serve the warm cucumbers with the dipping sauce or use them along with the sauce in making the burger as well.
