Texas Sheet Cake – very thick and fluffy!
Very Thick and Fluffy Texas Sheet Cake is a delicious taste of a classic dessert for chocolate lovers!
Ingredients :
Ingredients for the cake :
2 cups flour
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup unsalted butter cut into spoonfuls
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping ingredients :
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
3/4 cup unsalted sweet butter
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup whole milk
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions :
Cake directions :
Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 13 × 9 baking dish with a nonstick spray. Cover the baking tray with parchment paper.
Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt into a large bowl and set aside.
Using a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix butter, cocoa and coffee until boiling. Beat until well blended and smooth, then remove from heat.
Slowly pour liquid mixture over flour ingredients, mix with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer.
Beat in the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla until everything is well incorporated.
Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake for 23-25 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center of the pie comes out clean.
Icing directions :
Mix butter, cocoa, milk and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Mix until the butter is completely melted.
Once the butter has melted, gradually mix in the powdered sugar until smooth.
Remove from heat and add 2/3 cup chopped walnuts.
Pour the glaze over the cake, spreading as needed to distribute evenly.
Sprinkle the remaining walnuts on top of the pie and let it stand.
