Christmas sugar biscuits are part of our family traditions. This recipe for old-fashioned rolled sugar biscuits is often the first thing I pull out of my recipe box. My kids think it’s the best of all sugar biscuit recipes – I first baked it with the help of my kids when they were 2 and 4 years old!

Ingredients :
4 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 cup Butter
2 Eggs, beaten
1/3 cup Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 cups Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
Instructions :
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the butter with a hand mixer.
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar and baking powder.
Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and mix gently.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured baking mat and knead gently ~ to bring it together.
Divide into 2 portions and roll out each portion with a rolling pin to 1/2-inch thickness.
Using biscuit cutters, cut out desired shapes. We have stars and trees.
Place them on baking trays about 5 cm apart.
Bake them for 5 minutes in a preheated oven at 375 degrees. The secret to tender, soft, old-fashioned sugar biscuits is to take them out before they start to brown. If the biscuits are lightly browned, they will be crisp.
Let the biscuits cool completely on wire racks before frosting.Step 10: When the biscuits have cooled completely, decorate them with buttercream frosting and food colouring.
